Subject: [LFK-general] A LinuxForKids distribution ?
Reply-To: linuxforkids-general@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

hello everybody, welcome to the list !

I have been playing with this idea of a LinuxForKids distribution for
some time ...

Now I know there are over 100 different distributions already out here,
but none of them for children. I know debian-jr is working on something
for children, based on debian.

My idea is basically to take an existing solid distribution, such as Red
Hat, or Suse or Mandrake, ... and add as many of the games that are on
LFK.org, to be installed automatically when you do a regular setup from
scratch.

That way, a parent or teacher could just use a spare computer, install
the LFK CD distribution, and the children are playing games, learning to
type and read and count in no time !

I'd like to know what people think about that, and if there are any
suggestions before we really start working on it.

Thanks,

Chris.
