My company, River Valley Technologies (STP, Trivandrum), 45 member
team, is exclusively on GNU/Linux. Except one Win32 and one Mac as
test benches, our OS is GNU/Linux including desktops. Our areas of
activities are client server applications, markup languages.
If you want to know any business enterprise other than software
companies, I know one book distribution company with multicrore
turnover, Cosmo Books, Trichur, Kerala <cosmoboo@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>,
that employ GNU/Linux based solution for their inventory control,
billing, staff matters etc. It is a Microsoft free zone including
desktops. They are quite satisfied with their GNU/Linux system which
is up and running for the last two years, with no breakdowns, zero
downtime/crashes for the past two years.
I learnt that the New Indian Express is switching to GNU/Linux for
their entire newspaper operation including page makeup. When I met one
of their senior technocrats an year ago in a seminar of Trivandrum
LUG, they're at the top of their development process to switch over, I
dont know further.
