Madhya Pradesh C.M. ,Shri Digvijay Singh stresses need for developing Hindi
software
Bhopal/March 22, 2001/10:30/Ejourno.com --The Chief Minister Shri Digvijay
Singh has stressed the need to develop Hindi software for the benefit of
Hindi speaking people in north India. He said that the government would
provide land free of cost if NASSCOM comes forward to open IIT fame
institute in the state. He was addressing a function organised by the Forum
for creating awareness among the people about Information Technology here
today. Minister for Industries and Commerce Shri Narendra Nahata, Executive
Director of BHEL Shri S. N. Rao were present.
Shri Singh said that the Information Technology sector offers immense
opportunities of employment to the youths. He informed that the state
government is making efforts to realise the employment potential of
Information Technology for the youths under its IT policy. He said that the
state government intends to empower people and raise their living standard
through innovative application of Information Technology. He informed that
an MoU has been signed with GE company for imparting training to the youths
in Information Technology. The training has started at Bhopal and after
three months a batch of 60 trained students will be available. They would
get employment easily.
Shri Singh said that computer education is being imparted in primary
classes. Students of class VI to class VIII are taught about fundamentals
and for those of class VIII to XII private instructors have been engaged
and provided place in the premises of schools and colleges. Shri Singh said
that knowledge of English is essential to understand the functions of
computer. It is therefore the state government is considering to teach
English from primary classes.
Shri Narendra Nahata listed the achievements of the state and said that use
of computers in governance has increased. Some departments like commercial
taxes have been computerised. Land records have been computerised. He said
that it is a challenging task to achieve 10 percent share in IT sector at
national level by 2008. It can be possible only when IT companies make
large scale investment in the state.
Chairman of NASSCOM Shri Devang Patel said that entire scenario can be
altered with innovative application of Information Technology. He said that
the 50 million dollar Information Technology industry has now touched 8.4
billion dollar. Only India can do it. He said that education is a vital
sector for the growth of Information Technology and Madhya Pradesh has
prepared a solid ground through innovative steps like Education Guarantee
scheme. He announced to open a NASSCOM office at Bhopal to give a push to
the growth of Information Technology sector. The Chief Minister conferred
on him TheIT Personality Award. Shri P. Prakash proposed a vote of thanks.
