Can we fix up the linux-india.org site ?

Hi all,

A recent post about broken links at linux-india.org prompted me to go there
(after a very long time). I just realised that the site REALLY SUCKS!

It's ugly and hasn't been updated in a long while. All-in-all I think it is not
very useful and I don't think it accurately reflects the vibrant linux community
in India.

Earlier requests for help didn't garner much response.

So I have a proposal. Let us open-source the site. I am not sure exactly how to
go about that. I guess we could register a sourceforge project for it and have a
mailing list dedicated to the website development. This list would have full
control over the contents of the LI website.

I am sure that way we'd get the site our community deserves.

I am aware that some of you may be uncomfortable that the site is hosted by
Exocore. If this makes you hesitant to join this effort, then we can arrange to
shift the site to some other host. I am sure there numerous people on this list
who can host the site. If a majority of people feel that this should be done
then we'll do it.

The important thing is that we ought to improve the website in an open and
transparent manner.

Let's do this -- I think it'd be a whole lot of fun and might make
linux-india.org a resource of note in the Linux world.
