Re: Router Configuration

Hi,
1. You may also try traceroute to see how far ur packets are reaching.
2. See route -n
  and what all routes present.
3. then add
route add default gw x.x.x.x (the gateway address of ur grp)
4. ping gateway u should reach!
5. Then beyond, it should work fine.

Subject: [linux-delhi] Router Configuration
Date: Mon, 30 Jul 2001 17:17:15 +0530

Hi All
I have red hat linux of version 6.2. I am trying to configure my machine as
Router. I have reconfigured the kernel with the following changes
1. CONFIG_IP_ADVANCED_ROUTER
2. CONFIG_IP_ROUTER
3. CONFIG_IP_MROUTE
After recompiling the kernel I rebooted the machine with the new kernel.
When I ping to 224.0.0.2 (ALL ROUTERS GROUP) there is no reply at all.
When I print the Route Table there is no entry for the GROUP 224.0.0.0.
Any other configuration has to be done?
Thanking you in advance
Regards
Aman
