MySQL start problem

Hi
     i m facin prob in startin mysql.
when i start mysqld from 
/usr/local/mysql-3.22.32-pc-linux-gnu-i686/support-files/mysql.server start
 
i get message 


[root@main support-files]# Starting mysqld daemon with databases from /usr/local/mysql/data
mysqld daemon ended

in error file located in data/hostname.err
it shows following reason

mysqld started on  Sun May 6 12:07:06 IST 2001
010506 12:07:06  Found old style password for user 'xyz'. Restart using --old-protocol
mysqld ended on  Sun May 6 12:07:06 IST 2001
