Harshal if you wish life should be a lot simpler, switch to Mandrake, works
lovely even on a i810.
has alsa pre-configured for use, X works just lovely. no tweking, no making
no rpm'ing, simply boot from the cd and enjoy.
And you'll be surprised to see the tons of goodies it come packaged with.

and if you plan not to do that, I can mail you my friend's XF86Config file.
he too has the same configuration.
he runs at 800x600@16bpp
