There is no need for any Group for that matter ILUG-C, to
be formal and legal. Where was the need for the Group to
manage funds at the start ? The Group was born out of a
need to learn more....

There is no guarantee that a legal body would not swindle its
gullible members. We have legal societies here who dupe their
members on certain activities which never happen. They even
concote accounts on the utilization of funds collected.
I have never heard of a litigation which has raked up these
issues of gross misappropriation or whatever !! Can a legal
entity solve these ?

Very true. Reasonable amount of trust is a must.

If the question of 'trust' has been answered, no potential
problem can arise.

BTW, do we need posters ?? Let someone write with a marker pen
on a big sheet of paper, instead of going in for printed posters.
The Group can manage a few big sheets of paper and some color
marker pens.
