Have U tried installing a small utility called 'pdnsd' ?
It is a substitution for BIND for Dial-up users.  Nothing
can beat it 'coz the DNS records are saved to a file on
UR HDD, unlike BIND.  These records are served again upon
connect/demand.

Using 'pdnsd' fixed the resolver issue for SQUID.

This need not be disabled.  Even if U disable, a line 
like this in UR /etc/hosts

127.0.0.2	testhost.testdomain  testhost

fixes it if U have 'pdnsd' installed. Try it !!


PDNSD has been Debianized and the .deb package can be got 
from the 'woody' tree inside /net.  The following line in 
UR /etc/apt/sources.list will get U the latest .debs of PDNSD.

deb http://northeye.org/~takuo/pdnsd ./
