  This sort of "detecting" merely comes from /proc/pci. sndconfig and brothers
do some kind of cat /proc/pci | grep multimedia (prolly in a little more
intelligent way (-: ) and tell it out. If its a PNP card, you can roll out a
nice isapnp.conf (of course with kernel compiled for pnp support) and get your
card to work. My attempt to get my YMF719 (PCI-PNP) failed and is merely
sleeping (prolly this is what they call is a "sound sleep" (-; ). In my case it
reported a unknown device | unknown vendor.
