Re: [achitnis@exocore.com: [linux@it.com] State of the Onion]

hi,

By me? Gosh! Fine have it your way. Incidentally, I made a
fervent appeal on ilugc (that I did not CC to you) asking people to
join after your email. Sometime during the mess. So why are you still
so sore.

Atul> If ILUGC did not want to be part of the family picture we
Atul> are trying to present at IT.COM, you just needed to say so,
Atul> or even better - say nothing.

When did I ever say that. Please quote me? Or are you just
belligerent.

Atul> I have not made any unnecessary allegations - you and Ravi
Atul> did. Since both of you have taken the trouble of slandering

Again quote me. Where on earth was an allegation made by me?
There was a possible nasty situation you were facing (which I later
said was stupid) that I tried to use to shut RAvi up and you still
think I have something against you?

I am getting sick of this. 3 aplologies/explanations and all
i get is this post from you. Amazing.

Atul> me in public so far, please do release my earlier reply to
Atul> your list so that your members can see that I did not take
    Atul> those allegations lightly.

I can see that. I can also see that you do not remember any
of the good will that we had, and also dont take any apologies or any
attempts to patch up. Maybe you hate me, God knows for what? One
paragraph which could have been interpreted differently? God help me.

Atul> For the record - there are currently 42 volunteers for
Atul> IT.COM. By the time the event rolls around, it will be more
Atul> than a hundred, involved in various things - not just the
    Atul> actual stall and talks.

Great I am very happy for that! Really, I am not sarcastic
about this.

Atul> We have people coming from Calcutta, Delhi, Cochin, Goa,
Atul> Nagpur, Indore and other places. While you and Ravi tried to
Atul> position this as a BLUG event that means nothing to you, a

Right, where did I position this as a BLUG event today?? If I
did why on earth did I first propose to allow BLUG to represent LI??

Atul> lot of people think otherwise. This is an Indian Linux
Atul> Community event, and has been so from day 1.

Atul> Proof of the pudding? Several of people registered on the
Atul> ITCOM list FROM CHENNAI over the past few hours. Obviously,
Atul> there *is* interest from Chennai, even if you say there
Atul> isn't. I am really sorry that it took such ugly posts to
Atul> draw their attention to the event.

I made a decent post at ILUGC requesting people to join. This
may have helped. I doubt that the original mess that Ravi started off
had anything to do with it. So proof of the pudding. I did try my
best to help you get some support from ILUGC. If you cannot see
that. Well, too bad...

Atul> It is just coincidental that IT.COM is in Bangalore, and I
Atul> would have fought as hard had it been in Chennai, Cochin,
Atul> Bombay or Delhi. I have, in fact, done so in the
Atul> past. That's how you got your stall at the PCQ expo. Just
Atul> because I didn't come begging for recognition and gratitude
Atul> does not mean that I didn't do it.

Thanks for the help. I honestly didnt know. I thought
Lateral funded the stall? Am I wrong??

Atul> Instead of fighting me because I call a spade a spade (which
Atul> is the only thing you can hold against me), I would have
Atul> appreciated a bit of support.

Tell me where exactly I didnt support you. If you cannot
support your accusations without facts what is the point... YOu have
not even bothered to quote any of my mails either...

Atul> To make an omelette, you have to break eggs. My job is tough
Atul> enough as it is, and I am ready to give up. I can lead a
Atul> horse to the water, but I can't make it drink.

Atul> If you or any of your LUG members wish to participate in
Atul> community events, by all means do so. But leave your
    Atul> attitudes at home.

Atul> Please leave me alone from now on. Just because I happen to
Atul> be a public figure and try to make things happen for Linux
Atul> in India does not give anyone the right to take potshots at
Atul> me or people involved with me. I am a very private person,
Atul> and value that privacy. I had decided not to reply to your
Atul> mail, but this thing rankled me so much that I got out of
Atul> bed, and wrote this reply.

    Atul> Atul

Atul> p.s. As I was writing this, your second reply came in. It
Atul> has not changed my mind about this sordid mess. My
Atul> penultimate para was aimed at Ravi, just like all the other
Atul> stuff I wrote after I started addressing him. And I stand by
Atul> it, for the lack of any evidence to the contrary. Ravi's
Atul> posts were very similar to Rag00's from Cochin - I wonder if
    Atul> there is a connection.

Atul> p.p.s. Your third reply about the realisation of what I
Atul> meant my politicising just came in. Status Quo. Release my
Atul> post, and maybe forward this one too, if it helps clarify
Atul> matters. You can knock off the p.s. if you wish.

Well, all I can say is I am sorry. That is it. I tried to muster
help for you as much as I could. So if you still want to hate me go
right ahead. Being a public figure you most prolly wont have time for
small fry like me. Anyway, best of luck for IT.com.

regards,
prabhu

p.s your mails are all going to be forwarded to ilugc.
