egcs and gcc have incompatible runtimes. Hence, egcs compiled
xserver 3.3.5 will not work with gcc compiled libc.so.6. The
solution, is to get glibc 2.1.1, compile it with egcs. [remember,
glibc 2.1 cannot be compiled with gcc 2.7]. You also have to
recompile the libraries that use stdio internally i.e. libstdc++,
libncurses, libslang and few others. glibc 2.1 is backward
compatible and hence glibc 2.0 linked programs can be run.

btw, glibc 2.0 and 2.1 dont seem to co-exist. So, you either
stick with 2.0 or with 2.1. No other options.

upgrading to slink wont help. It is better that you stick to
Redhat 6.0 till "potato" is released!
