	No, he's not running slink, still with hamm. 

	Balakrishnan, could you please tell us how you upgraded X, and 
the make of your video card ? Another thing you could do is get a
binary version of the latest incarnation of your X server alone, (not
the libraries or header files), and simply drop it in place of your
current X server (probably, /usr/X11R6/bin/XF86_SVGA), after backing
it up. It works, most of the time. Make sure, though, that you are
getting a version that's compiled against glibc 2.0, if you are
running Debian. There isn't yet a stable Debian release with glibc
2.1.

	That's true :). The only reason newbies are asked to avoid
Debian is the installation. If you get past the installation, you'll
find Debian to be a very well thought out and organized
distribution. It generally doesn't occur to Debian users to ever
switch distributions once they've started using Debian.
