Problem when compiling the 2.3.9 kernel

Hi,

I am trying to compile the 2.3.9 kernel on RH 6.2 box but it fails when
compiling the fs modules with errors. I get undefined references to
update_vm_cache and get_cached_pages. What might be the reason for this
error ?
