problem with RPM

hi all,

i tried to install a binary (Common LISP prg. lang.) which is in .rpm
format.  I got the following error mess.

[root@hanuman mksarav]# rpm -i cmucl-18.3.0-6.i486.rpm 
only packages with major numbers <= 3 are supported by this version of RPM
error: cmucl-18.3.0-6.i486.rpm cannot be installed

What this error means?
