Hi there,
Linux and Unix are same in the sense that they are same in the underlying topology
and the IDEA behind a UNIX system ( governed by POSIX ). They are same again is
the source sense ( POSIX ) which means there should not be much difficulty compiling
a SCO program on a Linux System ( theoritically and to an extent practical also ) or
vice-versa. But, the same thing does not apply to binaries because they are in different formats
for Example Linux uses ELF format where as SCO uses it's own ( a.out ?? ) binary format !!
That is why you cannot directly run SCO programs on Linux and this is where iBCS modules come
in. They act as a wrapper and do the translation for SCO format to Linux format and vice-versa (?)
That is what I can explain.
Maybe some guru wants to come in and give us a detailed explanation ( preferrably Guru himself ;-)
HTH
Regards
	Khader
