Perfect.  A standard example would be -   [note no % before the first
quote] - this is in /usr/share/games/fortunes/

Suppose this is called foo.  In bash give the command strfile foo.  That's
enough.  You'll tell fortune to take quotes from here by issuing 

/usr/games/fortune -s -e foo foo1 foo2

[-s means short quotes, or else you get 2 page quotes, -e = equal chance
of reading from foo,foo1,foo2]
