[LI] rp3 problems

Hi!
I have been experiencing some problem with either rp3 or wvdial(which
rp3 calls) lately.

I have a resolv.conf file with all the namesrvers of VSNL that I know
of. Now as soon as wvdial and/or rp3 dials and connects, it overwrites
resolv.conf with the nameservers that it has received as part of the PPP
handshaking process. Now in case it doesn't(which happens sometimes) the
resolv.conf file is truncated to 0 bytes. Now since PPP in it's
documentation says that Linux does need the name of a nameserver in
resolv.conf for you to get DNS resolving in place, there is something
that wvdial and rp3 are doing while connecting. I checked
/var/log/messages. When I connect manually(using just ppp-on) no name
server info is offered. But when wvdial/rp3 connects, there is a
nameserver information which is received. Worse thing is that the
resolv.conf file is changed with restrictive permissions, disallowing a
non-priviledged account from accessing it.

My question is:
1. Does pppd have a option which lets it accept nameserver info
(contrary to it's docs). I am just curious here.
2. Is there a way I can turn off this not-quite-helpful habit of
overwriting my resolv.conf file? I appreciate the helpful offering of
nameserver info, but no thanks, i already have a decent resolv.conf file
in place.
BTW, I am using MTNL if that makes any difference. They have nameservers
of their own. Even then I use the VSNL ones.

TIA,
