1) Regarding increasing the size of the partition.

No other way than re-installing linux?

This method seems extremely low-level and may not be possible all
the time or is it?

2) Regarding multiple partition for same mount point.

If I remember, Disk Druid utility supplied in PCQ CDs gives option
for selecting physical disk if more than one disks are present. 

Anybody has tried selecting more than one disk for same partition? 
I haven't tried it but I would like to know if it lets select more
than one disk and what it does in such case.
