You need to create a small Linux partition to hold your /boot and
make sure that the entire partition falls below cylinder 1024.

One possible scheme:

/dev/hda1 	small C drive
/dev/hda2 	/boot
/dev/hda3	Possibly D drive, if you need space.
/dev/hda4	Extended
	
	/dev/hda5	Linux root
	/dev/hda6..	More linux stuff

hda2 needs to be entirely below 1024 cylinders.
