Then Ishmail is a hopelessly broken MUA (mail user agent).  Any MTA with
half a clue can set the sender envelope.  OTOH, Ishmail ~is~ meant to be
used on a LAN, for intranet mailing, as you mentioned in a prev post.

You can't have the cake and eat it too :)

Apparently you can't - you've tried all the methods possible.  Ask the
ishmail developer as a last resort, and then use this login / dump
ishmail.  OTOH ~you~ use ishmail and your bro / sis can use Pine / Mutt /
Netscape / KMail or whatever.
