Re: [LI] Configuring S3 Trio cards

I have an S3 successfully configured here. I can send over the
configuration file over if you like (it works in 1024x768 and 1280x1024 -
24 bit, 640x480 and 800x600 and 16 bit, and 640x480 at 8 bit), but the
fundamental solution is to use Xfree86 3.3.5 and above, where the card is
supported. If you have RH 6.1, you can start XConfigurator and select the
S3 Trio 3D card from the menu of card options, and DO NOT opt to test
whatever you configure - the system is almost sure to hang, for whatever
reason. It is far better to manually edit the /etc/X11/XF86Config file and
remove the comment mark from the VRAM entry, and then, in the svga section
of the file - you have to use the SVGA server - mention whatever
combination of resolutions/color depths you want. A hint - the following
modelines seem to work for 1024x768 and 1280x1024 at 24 bit :

Modeline "1024x768" 75 1024 1048 1184 1328 768 771 777 806 -hsync -vsync
Modeline "1280x1024" 135 1280 1312 1416 1664 1024 1027 1030 1064 -hsunc
-vsunc

The follwing modelines seem to work at 16 bit :
Modeline "640x480" 45.80 640 672 768 864 480 488 494 530 -hsync -vsync
Modeline "800x600" 36 800 824 896 1024 600 601 603 625

I have only these modelines activated in my configuration file, and they
seem to work pretty well, without any drawing errors, etc.
