[LI] gpm giving problems please help

hi,
 i have redhat 6.1 from box of redhat, i usually boot
in the ineractive mode because ig i boot in normal
mode keyboard ank mouse hang. i zeroed in the problem
is if i start gpm every thing goed grazy if i dont
start gpm i am unable to use mouse and ley board when
i satart X please help me in how to start X without
GPM and configure mouse. i tried MOUSE- confh but did
not help
 please advise me on this
