[LI] GPM giving problem

hello,
i am having problem with GPM. when i start GPM the key
board behaves strangly many keys dont behave as thay
should for example a becomes enter key ctrl key
becomes w etc... when i dont start GPM the x windows
does not work, i am using genome. please advise me on
how to cojnfigure mouse wthout gpm. i tried to use
mouse-config , the trick does not work.
