I have posted a suggestion to your mail, which unfortunately didnot
appear.  If this appears, then try this.  Use -r option in your mgetty
initiation line in /etc/inittab. See also man mgetty to know what this
option does. AFAIK this is the solution to this problem.  If it works
please let me know.
