Re: Re: [LI] Win95 after Linux

Hi Aditya,

Since you already have Linux Up and Running with LILO in MBR and
configured for Win-95, just do the following -

1. Make a Linux Boot Disk.
2. Install Win-95, don't worry about overwriting MBR etc.
3. Boot Linux from floppy.
4. As root, run lilo - this will again restore the original MBR
with support for Win-95, if it was there before.

Easiest, Safest, needs no back-up apparently, but since you are
playing with Windows, backing-up data is the safest option. ;-)

Suvendra

BTW, if Windows-95 fails to write to the MBR and installation fails,
do a dos fdisk /mbr (or do a lilo -U --> if u are sure what u are doing,
check the manual for warnings etc. Also check the manual for fdisk
in Linux, it can also write a DOS partition table).

Dear Dr. Shahrukh and other list members
I got a bit confused yesterday. Please note that I want to
install Win 95 and not Win NT. Is it so that Win 95 cannot write
the MBR and that is an NT problem. So would
the LILO prompt still come up.

Could someone elaborate on this.

regards
Aditya
