[LI] Suggestion for those running sendmail on their desktops

Hi

I keep running into problems using just my local sendmail 8.9.3 (on my
desktop linux box) to send mail (after setting the o HoldExpensive=true
flag).

If the receiving MTA times out and refuses to accept connections, then
mail keeps getting queued on my box (especially as it is not 24x7 online).
So, the best compromise is to set the flag o FallbackMXhost=hd2.dot.net.in
(or whatever your ISP's smtp server is).

So, if my SMTP server is not able to deliver it by itself, it passes it to
the vsnl server for further delivery. This is better than setting DS and
DN (and using your ISP's smtp server all the time).
