[LI] Errors on shutting down x

Folks -

I'm running a SiS6215c 1 mb VRAM card on RH 6.1 (samtron 428PT monitor).
I used the XF86_SVGA server provided in the PCQ distro - and X always
committed suicide instead of dying peacefully.

Periodically, X reverts back to its old state (the no_accel and no_bitblt
flags I set are somehow reset, and X crashes). XScreensaver permissions,
"can't remove temp files" and "Esound daemon already running" are common
factors.

Here's a dump of my x shutdown error log - can somebody help please? I
still have a few tasks I ~have~ to perform on a GUI, so ... (at least mutt
is there for my mails so I can dispense with netscape <g>)

Speaking of this - I'd advise you to switch to Linux (and pine / mutt) for
a while at least, especially if you are still using windows. Even on
Netscape, spammers and virus authors have got the rather brilliant idea of
sending html mail with <img src="http://spammer.com/cgi-bin/evil.cgi";> -
in effect, he can run whatever he wants on your box.

Back to my request - here's the shutdown error log -

SESSION_MANAGER=local/suresh.kcircle.com:/tmp/.ICE-unix/1058,tcp/suresh.kcircle.com:1104

xscreensaver: Errors at startup are usually authorization problems.
Did you read the manual? Specifically, the parts
that talk about XAUTH, XDM, and root logins?

^^^^^^ I ~have~ seen this site, and couldn't find much there.
