[LI] urjent: cdrom not mounting

hi,

i need help urgently ,i have a box with RH 6.1 where suddenly the cdrom has
stopped mounting. the command i give is :

mount /mnt/cdrom

in single user mode i get some descriptive error message ,which is as follows

Executing /bin/mount -t is09660 -o exec,dev,suid,ro,owner /dev/cdrom
/mnt/cdrom 

mount /dev/cdrom is not a valid block device 

return 32

also i get a message saying device mounted

kindly let me know what's the problem
