[LI] Headers at aunet.org ?

Hey,
I'd like to know a few things, if someone could explain how it works or
so?
First of all - lists.linux-india.org and www.aunet.org seem to be the same
box [ nslookups are identical ] - so how are you getting one box to answer
to multiple host names?
  and then ...
some headers of a mail that I posted to LI awhile back.... like what
gives?

      Received: from DELTA ([203.197.135.131])
	by md3.vsnl.net.in (8.9.3/8.9.3) with SMTP id XAA18181
	for <linux-india@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>; Mon, 13 Dec 1999 23:35:44 GMT

thats my box dumping the mail to md3 ;-) and the time on md3's box being
23:35:44

      Received: from md3.vsnl.net.in (md3.vsnl.net.in [202.54.6.35])
	by www.aunet.org (8.9.3/8.9.3/Debian/GNU) with ESMTP id KAA07150
	for <linux-india@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>; Mon, 13 Dec 1999 10:07:01 -0800

  and thats md3 dumping to www.aunet.org [ ! lists.linux-india.org ?! ] -
how's that happening ?

      Received: (from majordom@localhost)
	by www.aunet.org (8.9.3/8.9.3/Debian/GNU) id KAA07154
	for linux-india-outgoing; Mon, 13 Dec 1999 10:07:07 -0800

I guess any mail that goes for "linux-india" gets intercepted by majordomo
because of list settings , but its majordom@localhost thats playing around ,
not majordomo - does that mean I could mail majordom@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
and play around with it? and obviously since its an internal mail , it takes
like 6 seconds ...

   Now comes the cool part...

     Received: by www.aunet.org (bulk_mailer v1.11); Mon, 13 Dec 1999
10:07:08 -0800

okay , like whats going on here ?

      Received: from localhost (daemon@localhost)
	by www.aunet.org (8.9.3/8.9.3/Debian/GNU) with SMTP id KAA07184;
	Mon, 13 Dec 1999 10:07:11 -0800

and where did daemon come in ? it never was delivered to daemon , was it
?

And finally , aunet.org dumping the mail to all the subscribers , of
which i'm one ... handing it back to giasmda ... server time - 23:36:57 ....

      Received: from www.aunet.org (aunet.org [216.103.113.202])
	by giasmda.vsnl.net.in (8.9.3/8.9.3) with ESMTP id XAA23215
	for <ravikant@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>; Mon, 13 Dec 1999 23:36:57 GMT

so this accounts for - 35:44 <-> 36:57 for a round trip from my box to
md3 to lists.linux-india.org and back to giasmda ... makes sense...except
that sometimes , i've seen mails take around 6 hours to do the journey...
why is that? checking headers show that my box [which i usually use to
deliver my mail , not md3] takes very very little time to deliver to
aunet.org [ i masquerade my box as giasmda.vsnl.net.in ;-) ] and then
aunet.org takes eternity to return it to giasmda - is it like because
giasmda bounces my mail , or is aunet.org conky or what ?

  TIA

 - ravi.

ps - my fourth and last mail on outlook 2000 - feels good and *Very*
customizable/powerful - only flaw ... takes *only* around 1 minute and 45
seconds to load on a pentium II 266 MHz box running windows 2000
professional release candidate 2 , october '99 issue.
<shrug> , mutt , here I come !!! ;-)
