Not possible as the superblock seems to be corrupted.


So far I have tried the following :

1. Boot from the bootable CD . Go to the bash prompt and try e2fsck /dev/hda5
The system gets back with an error message

No such file or directory on /dev/hda5......Try something like e2fsck -b 8193
/dev/hda5

I tried e2fsck -b 8193 /dev/hda5 . The results were similar ;-(
