[LI] Intel 810 - Motherboard and (continuing) X woes...
Hi Folks!
Thanks for all your responses Shankar, Venugopal and Sathya.
Sorry to say that my problems haven't ended.
I downloaded the XFCom stuff from precisioninsight site and
did the following:
1. copied I810Gtt*.rpm (those meant for RH6.1), xf86config_glibc...tgz,
and the libc5.tgz into /tmp
2. executed rpm -hiv <file name.rpm>
3. ran xf86config
I am stuck at this stage. I was expecting the i810 card entry to
show up in the list of cards but I didn't find it there. Someone
suggested me to choose a generic AGP card, but I didn't find an
entry for a generic AGP card (Most AGP card entries were for i740
chipsets). It complained of an unknown chipset.
Once I even changed the symbolic link of X to point to XFCom_SVGA
and tried 'startx' and 'X', but without luck.
Can someone please tell me what I am missing? Basically I need to
know:
1. how to choose the right video card
2. how to make the X server recognize this card and bring
up the right resolution.
Thanks for your help (..and your patience :) )
Ashwin.
