for that u have to fiddle with your /etc/lilo.conf file.
dont mess with it unless u know what u r doing!!

et the end of the file, put this:

password=<your pwd>
save it,
run lilo
when it says something like this: Linux added, u have success.
the next time u boot into linux single, it will ask for pwd!!

now there is a hitch- your "single" pwd is there, in ascii text on your
lilo.conf file- u can SAFELY remove the password entry altogethr- just
make sure that u DONT run lilo AFTER that!
(running lilo makes changes in lilo.conf effective).
