Subject: [LI] problem with RH6.1 installation
The Partition magic I have frees space only in the primary partition. If you
already have a logical partition, then why not create 2 logical drives 2.1Gb
and 128 MB using Fdisk(Dos).
Now Boot from the Linux boot disk( or directly from the cd) and type "text"
at the boot prompt, this will take u to the text installation mode. I
wouldn't recommend the GUI installation.
Now in disk druid edit the 2.1 Gb partition as Linux Native and the 128 Mb
as "Swap"
and in the end ( after all packages are installed) choose the MBR option
for installing the Lilo boot loader. This will enable you to boot either
into win98 and Linux.
You must have partitioned the primary partition, and abandoned the
installation. Thats why you are not able to boot to even Win98.
--MANI
With PMagic, freed space ( 1.5 GB ) on the last logical partition
intending to load Linux RH 6.1 (PCQ). HDD in LBA mode since loding of Win98.
Made boot disk for linux. Booted from it. Did not choose text mode.
Everything seemed to be going all right till the selection of installation
from CD ROM, when after lots of activities in CD ROM drive (Samsung 48x),
the monitor failed to show up anything (turned black).
Changed from LBA to Normal mode and tried to boot again. This time it
failed even to boot saying HDD is not recognizable (or something similar).
Please help.
It's PII 400, Trident 4 mb AGP card, Samtrom 50E.
Thank you and Regards.
