Re: [LI] Connect to the Net
Hello,
My profund apologies, to Jeff, and others, while, I enjoyed ->linux+net
a few days ago and answered there questions, with a leisurly + cavalier
(the word does not suit but anyway) atitude.
I've tried everything short of replaceing the pppd(or the modem). I
tried, following Ajay's instructions, but the same problem occured anyway.
All three methods, pap, chap, terminal based failed. The gnome method,
rhppp, does not work either. It reports a ppp-failure, in the textconsole,
from which X was called. As I mentioned earlier, the problem is
definately with pppd. It refuses to "load". On looking at the log file of
kppp, it just reported that the pppd was terminated by signal 15.
Is it possible that, particular options are required for pppd. B.T.W
Jeff, you didn't mention your modem name or type. Is there any difference,
between /dev/cua1 and /dev/ttys1.
Executing, the pppd manually, after the minicom method, detailed by me
earlier, also failed. On telneting, it reported "Host name lookup failure"
What do we do?
Rajeev
