[LI] black background of text & errno 111 w

dear all,

I've two problems

I }

When I installed RedHat 6.1 of Nov99 PCQuest
after starting  X
GNOME & Enlightment starts and login prompt appears

the "Background" colour of text on every menu/dialog of the 
application/login dialog box  is  "BLACK" (not readable)
I'm not able to read anything . So how do I change it,


II }

When I upgraded to RedHat Linux 6.1 provided in Nov99 PCQuest  over  RHL 6.0 


when I do startx
I get the following error message

execve failed for /etc/X11/X (errno 2)

_X11TransSocketUNIXConnect : Can't connect : errno 111
giving up.

xinit : Connection refused (errno 111) : Unable to connect to X Server
xinit : No such process (errno 3) : Server error.
