[LI] no pop server in my RH5.2

when I try telnet to <myip> 110
the message is
disconnected from the server

the entry in the /etc/inetd.conf for pop3 shows some thing like this

pop3    root    /usr/bin/inetd    ipop3d

well i am baffled since my other machine having slackware 3.2 is providing
good pop services.
