Re: [LI] Modem for linux

Winmodems are not even modems in the hardware sense of the word. They are ,
or cointain software implementations of a modem , depending on whether they
are hostless Winmodems, host-based, HCF-, HSP-, HSF-, controllerless,
etc.Winmodems differ from standard modems in that they lack a UART
(Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter) chip, and a processor chip
(for processing instructions). Instead, they depend on the computer's CPU
for these functions. The one common feature all of them have is that they
are jointed at the hip to Windows 9x. In Fact , Some of them do not even
work with NT. As such , forget about them *ever* working under Linux.
