My experience is that Linux cannot be installed on a partition bigger than
around 3.6GB due to 1023 cylinders limitation. In my case I installed win98
on a primary partition and I made 3.6GB logical partition on extended
partition and I left it unformatted. Later when I was installing Linux Red
Hat 6.0 I just made root and swap partitions on the unformatted 3.6GB
partition that that was it.
