[LI] Sligtly off topic.

I have a Celeron 266, 64 mb ram, 8 GB (2 GB x 4), Creative Infra 48X CDrom,
100 Mb internal Zip, 1.44 FDD.

I have Win95 on C:.
I want to load RH on one of my other partitions.

The following is the problem:

Despite enabling booting off CD rom in the Bios, the m/c boots off the HDD.
This is despite keeping the boot sequence as cdrom cdrom Ide. The cdrom
works just fine under Win95; I can play music CDs, browse data CDs, I can
even rip audio tracks.

On booting to Dos neither the cdrom nor the zip are recognised so I can't
even use the autoboot function.

I tried using Mulinux, booting off the floppy but when I try to mount the
CDrom it gives an error saying block not found.

The chap who supplied the hardware is unable to make head or tail of this.

In the primary Bios setup only the HDD is shown as primary master, there are
no other devices shown as primary slave/sec. master/sec. slave. Could this
be the culprit ?

I even downloaded the DOS drivers for the CDrom from the Creative site but i
really don't know what to do with them (it's an exe file containing a .sys
file, a .diz file and a licence.txt). Where should I run this file ?

awaiting the usual enlightenment from the list,

Sorry for the long and seemingly off topic mail but believe me it's really
like being so near and yet so far.

thanx,

Sharukh.
