The core packages you will be needing are available in samba - your
installation should be having the packages.

There is a lot of documentation in the /usr/doc/samba-* directory along
with the examples. Accessing the linux boxes from Windows is more or
less straight forward.

As far as the other requirement goes (accessing Windows shares using
Linux) you need to use smbmount tool (again part of samba package).
