[LI] Red Hat Linux Module for CDWriter

Hi,

A friend of mine wants some help installing a SCSI CD Writer with
Linux. haven't worked on any linux with SCSI bus. Therefore, if you
could help him somehow, it would be a great favour. He is running Redhat
6.1

The relevant part of his mail is....:
--------------------------
1) Hardware - Compaq Professional W/S AP200
                         Adaptec 2940 SCSI Controller
                        SCSI HDD, SCSI Internal CDROM

2) Platform - Red Hat LINUX 6.1 (Latest)

We are trying to attach an Yamaha External SCSI CDWriter (6x write
Speed, Model No. 6416SX ) via SCSI controller. When LINUX boots it does
not detect the CDWriter and in an attempt to recognise all SCSI devices
it goos in a loop and gives failure message repeatedly. As soon as the
CDWriter is powered off it continues and goes on fine.

We have "sg" module of the kernal loaded and working fine as we have
tried Yamaha External SCSI CDwriter (4x write Model No 4214 ) which it
is detecting and working fine. Also the 6X unit is fine as it works
under Win. NT in the same Computer.
-----------------------

I don't think of any reason repeatedly attempting to access a SCSI node,
even if the relevant driver is missing.

regards
DIPAK
