What i said was that Oracle (on any platform) costs more than SQL on NT. (I
know that O8 costs the same on all plats). Large customers like the Govt are
price conscious. 

However, I think that Oracle + Linux costs less than SQL+NT. So we still
have something to go on :-))))). 

Thanks for telling me that SO works on RH6.0. Looks like I have a fun
weekend ahead.

The days when one could get away with "Linux is free, why should Oracle
cost so much under Linux" are long gone. Oracle is a commercial product,
and costs exactly the same irrespective of what platform it runs on -
which I think is fair (naturally I just fed the "liberty or death" crowd
their daily dose of flame bait ;-).
