[LI] Parallel Cables / Clustering

Dear Folks,

All this talk about Parallel Cables has fired my imagination. I've been
wanting to network my old 386 which is sitting around with my new P-II
machine. Some my friends at IISc were telling me about something they called
Monkey Linux - something that would allow the small machine to use the
resources of the bigger monster? If you have any ideas experiences or
suggestions please mail me ONLY, I will collect all info and post later.

That's something the list admin should look into - the rule in a similar
list elsewhere that I'm a member of is that - if someone asks a question
mail ONLY him / her and the person will collect / collate / condense all
material and post ONE article later. That post also acknowledges the
contribution of everyone who sent in info. That saves a lot of bandwidth and
distinctly improves the signal / noise ratio of the list.

About the clustering project @ IT.COM, I was just wondering Atul - what's up
busy / out of town / unable to email? Just two things, there's no use
trying with machines < 486, so all the folks in Blr who can donate / spare
machines >= 486 please get together. Apart from that, anyone from CDAC
here, or anyone else who has experience with clustering please get all your
info and advice so that the Linux pavilion will rock @ IT.COM. We could
probably start a thread at www.takeitoffline.com to handle this clustering
project, Atul will you ?

Finally, abt max Linux machines @ one place, IITs and IISc are the best bet
I think!

ReSourcefully,

M
