Hi there,
try doing a cat /dev/sndstat and see if the devices are made.
Check out with dmesg whether the card was properly detected without any 
'device or resource busy' messages. This might help you whether the IRQ's you
gave are right or not.

And finally a look at /usr/src/linux*/Documentation/sound might help
