The Matrox Millenium G100 is about 2700 bucks. The G200 (the card I have) is
about 7500.

Simplest way:

less /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/Cards

The exact list of cards supported by your installed version of XFree86.

BTW - XFree86 3.4 (not yet available in RPM format) supports the i740 out of
the box.
