Thanks for the inputs, everybody !! Things are getting clearer now :-)

But what i was comparing was not Slot-1 vs. Socket 7. I was comparing
similar performances especially when the work is not high end CAD/graphics
development or gaming.

I saw a no. of shootouts on the NET, comparing K6-2 with P-II.
K6-2 seemed to have very good performances for routine work but lost out
only on floating point. And considering the cost differences, it seems a
good option

So i was comparing routine computing power rather than special purpose
machines.
