netscape closes when i try to change properties

hello guys,
         as soon as i try to change the background colour of my html
document
in netscape composer , this happens with any of the properties i try to
change,
netscape just closes all the netscape windows, any one out there have
similar
prob.

i am on RH 6.0 with  netscape 4.6
