plus you need to run the GNOME pager so that the iconized apps comes in
the panel.
BTW, I am writing this mail from PINE.. and my mail server is an
exchange server. So I am using the IMAP transport to check mails. 
My mail id kousik.bera@xxxxxxxxxxxxx And as you can see from the mail
header my mail id appears to be kousik@...
This is because the Linux user id is kousik. I have heard about mail
aliases. How can I configure PINE or something so that the From: field
contains kousik.bera@xxxxxxxxxxxx instead of kousik@xxxxxxxx
