Verify whether you are actually able to get to your name servers and that
they work by doing the following:

1. Type 'nslookup www.yahoo.com'. You should get a result like the
following:

% nslookup www.yahoo.com
Server: blackrock.mcom.com
Address: 206.222.240.5

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: www.yahoo.com
Addresses: 204.71.200.74, 204.71.200.68, 204.71.200.67, 204.71.200.75

2. Ping your name server by typing 'ping ip.address.of.name.server'

3. Ping the IP address of your gateway (if you have any).

I bet this is not a problem with SOCKS_NS.
